Tai Mo Shan, the easily accessible site for stunning sunrise in Hong Kong

Geographically located above Tsuen Wan, Tai Mo Shan is one of the most easily accessible locations for watching sunrise in Hong Kong.  This 957-meter tall mountain is a favored destination for hikers and nature enthusiasts.  The journey to the summit of Tai Mo Shan to catch the sunrise is an experience in itself.  The trek is manageable and rewards hikers with breathtaking views.

As the sun rises, it illuminates the skyline of Hong Kong, casting a warm glow over the city and the surrounding water.

The best time for sunrise watching at Tai Mo Shan is typically during the cooler months, from late autumn to early spring.  The weather is more favorable, and the chances of a clear sunrise are higher.

How to get there?

Trust me.  You don't wanna bother with public transport.  If you drive, you'll find designated parking areas from Tai Mo Shan Country Park.  There're usually plenty of parking spaces at night.  The distance from the park entrance to the summit is approximately 5 kilometers.  Alternatively, drive all the way until you meet the restricted area.  There are few (not legally) decent parking slots available and you're half way done with the trek from there.

As much stunning as the view is, you will need that bit of luck to be able to watch the sunrise.  From my personal experience, you only get 1 decent scenery out of 10 tries.  But isn't that what makes it even more enchanting!
